I will be using the comment space of this post to write about the game in real time, and anyone else can feel free to write comments or observations. Go 'Cats!

Oooo, Live Blogging!! I feel good about Northwestern's chances.
ReplyDeleteGo 'Cats! Yay MSG PA guy announcing the starting lineup
ReplyDeleteFirst time NU has played St. John's since 1965.
ReplyDeleteSt. John's wins the tip.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful lob from Shurna to Crawford. 2-0.
ReplyDeleteSt. John's running the zone. Should be good for Northwestern's outside shooting.
ReplyDeleteShurna has two threes already. Wow, is he good.
ReplyDeleteGreat ball movement, and Crawford hits the three. 11-11.
ReplyDeleteCrawford has 8 already.
ReplyDelete12-0 Wildcat run in just over a minute and a half.
ReplyDeleteOh my god, Shurna
ReplyDeletesick pass from shurna to luka between the defender's legs
ReplyDeleteSo far, 9 for Shurna and 8 for Crawford. 3 for each Juice and Marcotullio.
ReplyDeleteCobb fouled hard and still on the ground. Intentional foul called, correctly in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteHe's up and walking to the bench under his own power.
ReplyDeleteCobb going to the locker room.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fullcourt drive by Marco.
ReplyDeleteGetting ugly. Not having Juice or Cobb on the floor has been a problem.
ReplyDeleteCobb back in the game. Good to see.
ReplyDeleteRebounding absolutely killing us.
ReplyDeleteSt. John's shooting .550. Probably time to try a different defense.
ReplyDeleteJuice back on the floor. Has 2 fouls though.
ReplyDeleteRunning the 1-3-1. Not my favorite defense, but we run it well. We REALLY need to box out though.
ReplyDeleteJohn Shurna-wow. Gotta get him more touches.
ReplyDelete29-29. St. John's continues to expose our defensive weaknesses. It's making me a little scared for Big Ten season.
ReplyDelete40-37 NU at the half. Definitely the most nervous I've been this season.
ReplyDeleteSame here. If we improve our rebounding and cut down on the turnovers we'll be in good shape, though.
ReplyDeleteNotable stats at the half:
ReplyDeleteShurna:7-8 fg, 3-4 3P, 19 points (wow)
Crawford: 5-8 fg, 2-4 3P, 12 points
Juice: Only 3 points (need more out of him)
Luka and Cobb: no points
Team: 14-24 fg, 6-12 3P
For St. John's:
Dwight Hardy: 4-8, 4-7, 12
Justin Brownlee: 4-7, 0-1, 10
Team: 15-31, 5-11
Also, 'Cats being outrebounded 14-9 and 6-2 on offensive rebounds. Those numbers must greatly improve.
And those two offensive rebounds for us came off of Luka recovering two consecutive shots he had blocked...yikes!
ReplyDeleteBad start to the half. Down 40-41.
ReplyDeleteOffensive rebound, layup, and an and-one for Shurna. Gotta love 'im.
ReplyDeleteBlatantly intentional elbow by Coker against Curletti. St. John's seems to be a dirty team.
ReplyDeleteGood to see Juice add a little athleticism. Otherwise the Red Storm is by far the more athletic team.
ReplyDeleteNobody playing well in the post for the 'Cats.
ReplyDeleteMore bad news as Southern Miss takes the lead in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl. Not good for my Bowl Mania picks.
ReplyDeleteWell, Louisville kick return TD. Never mind on that last post.
ReplyDeleteGet Shurna some touches. Now.
ReplyDeleteShurna for an NBA three, missed dunk, and layup in about 15 seconds. Haha.
ReplyDeleteKeep feeding Shurna. Gives us the lead. 1-2 on the free throws there.
ReplyDeleteCapocci replacing Shurna. Don't like that at all, but probably trying to give him rest for the home stretch.
ReplyDeleteLuka is incompetent down low today.
ReplyDeleteShurna's back, and we need him. Down by 5.
ReplyDeleteGetting killed down low on both sides of the floor.
ReplyDeleteTimeout Carmody. Hope he has something up his sleeve.
ReplyDeleteBallsy three by Juice brings it within 4.
ReplyDeleteMirkovic, just go straight up! You're 6' 11'', for goodness sake!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think St. John's was this good.
ReplyDeleteSomething has to change, and fast. NU just looks overmatched right now.
ReplyDeleteThings are getting out of hand...
ReplyDeleteI think it's time to run Shurna off some screens. He is really our only scoring threat right now.
ReplyDeleteI think SJU is having a long awaited breakthrough game with NU. Theyve been gross underachievers.
ReplyDeleteMarco!
ReplyDelete"Shurna," not "Shurma" you stupid announcer.
ReplyDeleteCrawford really has not been good this half.
ReplyDeleteI'm scared for when we play the physical teams of the big ten.
ReplyDeleteWell, there's a lot to learn from this half. It's been awful.
ReplyDeleteSay goodnight, Gracie.
ReplyDeleteWisco, agreed. Michigan State is gonna pick us apart if we play like this.
ReplyDeleteMarcotullio fouls out. Looks the 'Cats are gonna try to fight it out for the last minute.
ReplyDeleteWell, Louisville victory, at least.
ReplyDeleteEven Shurna can't buy a basket.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of work to do.
ReplyDeleteThat's all she wrote. 85-69 St. John's, and we fall out of the ever-smaller list of the unbeatens.
